林奕新（朱海彬 饰）一家在汕头经营一家小杂货店，他和妹妹都在读中学。他在汕头金山中学就读，和同学梁梦洁（卢倩 饰）青梅竹马，互有好感。本来梦洁准备大学考中山大学的，奕新也跟着报了中大。谁料后来梦洁反而去了杭州一所大学，只有奕新上了中大。在大学里，两人仍有书信往来，虽然梦洁也有了男朋友。奕新（吴启垒 饰）被选去演话剧《暗恋桃花源》，和他搭档的是可爱的女生，来自苏州的苏心蕊（杨婕 饰）。日复一日的排练中，心蕊对奕新情愫暗生。然而奕新却对梦洁念念不忘，他无法接受心蕊的爱也有因为心蕊是外省女生的缘故。于是心蕊狠下心来到了汕头，准备了解奕新的成长环境，更好的接近他。奕新和心蕊偶然在汕头重逢，两人回到了广州，正式成了恋人。然而有一天梦洁的突然出现，又扰乱了奕新的世界.....。Adapted by Virginie Verrier and Brigitte Tanguy from the biography Ne jamais rien lâcher, the script traces the career of Marinette Pichon over three decades.
