清朝未年，居住在英国占领地新街的邓二被英军惊吓后气绝身亡。今日此地变成了建筑工地的楼盘，邓三的鬼魂经常出来捣蛋，令工人们不敢开工。新任工程师林丰与邓三不打不成相识，竟结为莫逆，工程亦得以顺利开工。奠基礼将由一政要前来剪彩，但是一个来自未来世界的女郎珊珊突然出现，并要杀死林丰，因为林卡要在奠基礼上杀死那位政要，将对社会产生极坏的影响。可是，珊珊又得知自己童年时曾被林丰搭救，心中十分矛盾。随着奠基礼日期的临近，珊珊的预言一步步显现，于是，清朝的鬼魂邓二、今天的建筑师林丰、未来世界的珊珊3人为了补救未来共同携起手来。。预科学校若智书院有一群成绩堪忧思想活跃的学生，校董家的谢天与谢地兄妹凭借老爸身份，即便留级也不担心学业；绰号水电工的嘉明为人老实，暗恋同学白逸梦，而白逸梦满脑子言情幻想，全然没有留意；李时珍因为在南太平洋群岛旅游，耽误了开学日，在旅游期间，李时珍结识了香港青年戴运河，运河对时珍一见钟情，不顾家人反对退掉美国大学，赶到香港入读若智书院。运河的到来令谢天大为紧张，谢天属意时珍日久，和死党吴成材一直无法打动芳心，但也不能容忍运河插手。校园内一时掀起了一场多角恋爱的争夺。校董面对恶作剧的学生们大为光火，聘请军校老师对书院进行军事化管理，这引发了学生们的空前团结……。SYNOPSIS Urgently called, the police inspector has arrived in a hotel, and didn't find any crime, but noticed some strangenesses occurring there. (Strugatsky Brothers website) NOTES This is a crime / mystery thriller with surreal and psychedelic science fiction overtones based on a book Inspector Glebsky's Puzzle by the Strugatsky brothers. The screenplay was also written by the brothers and it differs from the book. The less you know about the movie the better starting point you have. The film is based largely on the mystery of what's happening to the people of Dead Mountaineer's Hotel. Is everything what it seems? Who's dead or who's not?。
